  • Conceptual Design and Economic Analysis
  • Final Design
  • Construction Management

A listing of some of the clients and project experiences is provided below:

Malden Sewer District, Town of Saugerties, New York – Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design

Design of a 0.1 mgd, extended aeration secondary treatment facility which included the following unit processes: extended aeration, secondary settling, chlorination, and aerobic sludge digestion.

Glasco Sewer District, Town of Saugerties, New York – Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design

Design of a 0.43 mgd wastewater treatment plant consisting of a 12 foot plastic media biological trickling filter system with primary and secondary clarification and a belt filter press for sludge dewatering.

Wallingford, Connecticut – Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design

Consultant to prime engineer for the design of an 8.0 mgd rotating biological disc wastewater treatment system. Provided design data for disc configurations, staging, and maximum organic loading conditions.

Towns of Wayland and Sudbury, Massachusetts – Septage Treatment Design

Process design of a .05 mgd septage treatment facility utilizing the rotating biological contactor process. This process represented the first application of its kind in the country.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Municipal Environmental Research Laboratory, Cincinnati, Ohio – Wastewater Treatment Analysis

Investigation and analysis of the treatment, power and equipment performance of rotating biological contactors operating in the United States and the development of recommendations relative to their design and projected performance.

Wright, Lindsey and Jennings, Law Firm – Municipal Wastewater Treatment Expert Testimony and Design

Design of 12.0 mgd wastewater treatment plant for the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, including rotating biological contactors, high rate trickling filters, clarifiers, and pump stations as part of expert testimony presentation.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Cincinnati, Ohio – Wastewater Treatment Analysis

Investigation of parameters affecting the peaking of wastewater flow in various collection systems around the country; included definition and evaluation of the magnitude of peaking factors in typical wastewater treatment systems.

State of California Water Pollution Control Board, Sacramento, California – Wastewater Seminar

Presentation of seminar with respect to process control, design, operation, maintenance, and power requirements of Rotating Biological Contactor Systems.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – Treatment of Hazardous Waste Leachate

Chesner Engineering, P.C. was the recipient of a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to study the potential for treating wastewaters from hazardous waste landfills using selected microorganisms (i.e., primarily fungi and molds). The evaluation included the collection of leachate from selected hazardous waste treatment sites, and the design and operation of a bench scale pilot treatment system using selected microbes.

Erie and Niagara Counties Regional Planning Board, New York State – Wastewater Analysis

Review of municipal and industrial wastewater disposal practices in Erie and Niagara Counties in Western New York. The study included consideration of wastewater disposal costs for municipalities and industries and projections of alternative methods of disposal, including joint municipal and industrial facilities, to reduce costs.

AVCO Lycoming, Stratford, Connecticut – Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Preparation of feasibility study and design for plating process wastewater treatment, solids disposal, and water reuse in AVCO’s Army engine plant. The wastewater treatment plant design included cyanide oxidation and chrome reduction, characterization of the sludge lagoon to permit secure disposal with leachate return, and water conservation in the plating process and reuse recommendations resulting in decreasing wastewater flow from 400,000 to 25,000 gallons per day.

Electrolux Corporation, Stratford, Connecticut – Organic Wastewater Treatment

Testing and evaluation of activated carbon water treatment system for the removal of organics and disinfection of water.

Melrose Marine Service, Inc., Greenport, N.Y. – Membrane Water Treatment

Developmental testing of ceramic membrane filtration system for the treatment of contaminated effluents from dredging operations and shipboard ballast water.

Fairlawn, New Jersey – Well Water Treatment

Evaluation of sources of contamination of well water supplies with volatile organics and identification of new potential sources of water supply.

Grumman Aerospace Corporation, Long Island, NY – Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Consultant to Grumman in the preparation of Spill Prevention, Control, and Treatment Plans for their major aerospace installations.

Confidential Client – New York State Microcircuits, Mfg. – Industrial Organics Treatment

Development of an analytical program to characterize priority pollutant discharges and isotherm study to assess treatability of activated carbon and ion exchange processes for priority pollutant removal.

Confidential Client – Western New York State Engine Plant – Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Assessment of problems and recommendations for solutions in a reverse osmosis wastewater treatment process for a major truck engine manufacturer.

Rockland County, New York – Pump Station Design

Design and preparation of contract documents for 13 pumping stations ranging in capacity from 0.5 to 20.0 mgd.

Ramapo, New York – Pump Station Design

Design and preparation of contract documents for 3 pumping stations ranging in capacity from 0.1 to 1.0 mgd.
